The New AFWME Showroom in the Semblance World Metaverse

Dubai, October 27, 2022 — Semblance World announces that Africa Fashion Week Middle East is the first African fashion week with this technology and immersive space housed inside Semblance World Metaverse during the AFWME Press Junket held at the Innovation Hub in DIFC.

Today, the intersection of fashion and technology has birthed a new revolution, which blurs the lines between our physical and digital lives and allows us to expand our creativity beyond the limits of our substantial reality. Fashion has not only entered the Metaverse, but it has also established itself as one of the pillars of the ecosystem. Diversity, dissolution, e-commerce, self-expression, sustainability, AI technology, non-fungible tokens (NFT’s), cryptocurrency and community, are at the heart of this new era in fashion.

 Many may wonder what a future in the Metaverse means. For AFWME, it’s having a virtual and digital space that can reach anyone, anywhere and anytime, where space and time is no longer defined, and endless global accessibility is possible. Breaking barriers where the community targeted can engage with brands that will curate spaces and experiences inside Semblance World. Storytelling and bringing communities closer will allow African brands to access consumers like never before.

 Therefore, through their showroom, AFWME will be able to showcase their designers’ work to any audience across the world while staying true to new-age principles and aligning with Dubai’s vision of becoming a city of the future driven by technology, innovation and sustainability.

 AFWME is aligning this vision to be the first and new fashion phygital (digital and physical) experiences and ahead of all the local fashion weeks and African fashion weeks by aligning with the Metaverse strategy – to be revealed at the Assembly by HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

 Semblance World also plans to host other fashion events, weeks and brands spread across its Metaverse offering new opportunities to engage Gen Z and other tech-savvy, young consumers, who according to McKinsey’s, spent an average of eight hours per day on screens in 2020.

Endless digital possibilities will continue to expand organically as fashion leaders continue to capture untapped value streams, and explore new routes to creativity and commerce while democratizing the industry.
